The South Side

Lisa grew up in her father's nightclub on the South Side, a kid hanging around the booth long before anyone let her touch the decks. At sixteen she started playing every day after school. She called it her workout. At eighteen she had a residency in the same club.

She has been studying Hank's sets since she was fifteen. He's the one person in the building she doesn't try to charm.

The world

In 2018 an international booking agency came calling. London first. Then Stockholm, where the clubs stayed open when everywhere else had shut, and where she built her name in Europe. Then Ibiza, the big rooms, the closing parties.

The night she first played Pacha, she called her father from the booth. He cried. She cried.

Home

In 2024 she came back to Chicago. Weekends, she's behind the decks at her father's club, which is why you won't hear her on air on a Saturday. Weekdays, and some Sunday nights, she's here.

On air she does two things. Some shows teach you where this music came from, the whole family tree from the seventies to now. Others just let you into her sets. Either way, she gives you the names.

The quiz

There's a bar in this city she won't name that has very politely asked her to sit out the music round. She didn't take it personally. She took the trophy home first.
