The Funky House Radio record label: the Chicago flag, with the station name around the edge

Every record was made by somebody. We tell you who.

The records go back to the Warehouse days and forward to this week's releases. Between them, three DJs tell you who made them: the singer who never got the credit, the label that started as an alternative to driving a cab, the twelve-inch that ran twice as long as the discographies said.

A person picks the music, one record at a time.

How it's made

Hank, Lisa and Mike are written characters with AI-generated voices. Their Chicago is a fictional one, set inside the real city.

The records are real and licensed through Live365. The research, the running orders and the scripts come from one person, a former professional club DJ who never stopped digging through crates.
